Forest School learning in nature
Forest School at Natura Montessori School

Forest School: an education in direct contact with nature

At Natura Montessori School, we are a Forest School where learning takes place in direct contact with nature. The outdoor environment is part of our Montessori curriculum and supports every plane of the child’s development.

Imagine your child here

Imagine your child climbing a tree safely.

Watching an insect with curiosity.

Lighting a fire for the first time.

Caring for a vegetable garden.

Understanding the world… from within.

At Natura Montessori School, nature is not an occasional activity: it is the setting where learning happens.

🌿 Ages 3–6

Discovering the world through the body and the senses

During early childhood, children need to move, touch and explore.

Our Forest School programme, guided by specialists, offers:

— Full days in the forest

— Free and guided exploration

— Spontaneous play in nature

— Development of movement, independence and confidence

This is where curiosity, inner security and a connection with the environment begin.

🌿 Ages 6–12

Experimenting, building and understanding

At this stage, children want to make, test and understand how things work.

Through our bushcraft and survival programme, students:

— Learn to navigate, build shelters and light fires

— Use real tools responsibly

— Develop projects as a team

— Face challenges that require thought, planning and cooperation

Nature becomes a real learning environment where knowledge has meaning.

🌿 Ages 12–16

Understanding impact and finding purpose

(Opening in 2026)

During adolescence, the need to understand the world and one’s place within it becomes increasingly important.

Our approach introduces a more scientific and conscious dimension to environmental education:

— Studying ecosystems and their balance

— Sustainability and environmental responsibility

— Real projects connected to the local environment

— Critical thinking applied to today’s challenges

A stage where knowledge connects with action and purpose.

Benefits of learning in nature

Regular contact with nature has a direct impact on a child’s overall development.

On a physical, mental and emotional level, we observe:

— Improved concentration and attention

— Greater emotional regulation and reduced stress

— Development of movement, balance and coordination

— Increased creativity and initiative

— Healthier and more cooperative social relationships

— Greater independence, security and self-confidence

The natural environment provides real, varied and changing stimuli that support more complete and balanced development.

One principle, two environments

At Natura, indoors and outdoors are not two separate worlds.

The Montessori classroom offers order, structure and abstraction. Explore our Montessori educational foundations.

The forest offers experience, reality and life.

Both are part of the same developmental process.
