Our Educational Foundations

“The first task of education is to stir up life, but leave it free to develop.”

— Maria Montessori

Montessori school near Barcelona: an education that respects each child’s development

Natura Montessori School is a Montessori school near Barcelona, located in a natural setting in Castellbisbal, where we support each child’s development through a respectful, thoughtful and coherent approach.

Our approach integrates academic learning with emotional, social and personal development, following the principles of Montessori education.

We observe each child to understand their current stage of development.

From there, we design the guidance and environment they need to learn independently and meaningfully.

We do not impose a fixed pace.

We follow theirs.

AMI Montessori guides: rigour and educational coherence

Our team includes trained Montessori guides, or guides currently completing their training, according to AMI standards. This supports an authentic practice aligned with the original method.

We follow the principles established by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), ensuring:

— Respect for the planes of development

— Observation as the foundation of learning

— Precise and conscious intervention

— Prepared environments designed with educational purpose

Scientific observation and self-observation

Observation is the starting point of the entire educational process.

The adult observes carefully and continuously in order to understand the child and adapt the environment to their real needs.

We also guide the child through a gradual process of self-observation, helping them become aware of themselves:

— How they learn

— How they relate to others

— How they manage their emotions

— How they improve through experience

This process develops attention, judgement and inner responsibility.

Learning stops being something external and becomes truly their own.

The prepared environment: where learning happens

Children learn through their relationship with their surroundings.

In our Montessori school, the indoor environment is designed to encourage independence, concentration and inner order.

Montessori and nature: one connected process

At Natura, learning is not limited to the classroom.

The outdoor environment is part of the same curriculum, allowing children to bring their learning into real life and respond to the needs of each stage of development.

Mindful eating: education also means nourishment

Food is part of learning.

At Natura, we teach children to develop a healthy, conscious and respectful relationship with food and with their bodies.

— Meals based on organic and locally sourced products

— No refined sugar or ultra-processed foods

— Habits that support energy, concentration and wellbeing

— Understanding where food comes from and how it affects health

Because learning also means learning how to care for oneself.

And that begins with what we eat every day.

Trilingual and international education

We are an internationally oriented school where learning takes place naturally in:

— English

— Spanish

— Catalan

Languages are experienced throughout daily life as part of each child’s real environment.

An education with purpose

We educate so that every child can:

— Develop independence and confidence

— Think with their own judgement

— Build respectful relationships

— Learn through inner motivation

An education connected to life.

And ready for the real world.
